WOW- what a spectacular morning.
Nearly one hundred community members of all ages and stages came together to put one thousand plants in the ground at this signification site on a fresh Saturday morning.
The highlight was seeing the chatter among the people there, the excitement of the task at hand and the beautiful location that pulled us all together. The planting took place at record speed which unfortunately meant some of the late comers missed out on the planting but still managed to enjoy a sausage off the barby and the great community spirit.
A huge thank you to Ant Rewcastle and the Hawke's Bay Regional Council for working with us to make the event possible- such a special occasion for all who came. We look forward to visiting over the years to come and watching the fruits of our labor.
A message from Ant; HBRC
On behalf of the HBRC, it’s been awesome working with Sarah and Real Exchange on The Great Give to kick off the season of Community Planting Days. Thanks again to all the great people that supported this project, including Ngā Hapū o Tūtaekuri for donating the 1000 plants. I hope to see you and your spades in softer ground soon!
